It’s been a busy day on the farm today with the pupils visiting the bees. Dressed up in their overalls and head guards they were well protected as they went to farm the honey. https://t.co/w9M1SJ2Fcr

Today’s mission, which they chose to accept, was to cook a rhubarb crumble! It will be interesting to see how much of it is left by the end of dinner time. https://t.co/tv9LUuehYz

The children take turns cooking for each day - today the mission was Cornish pasties. How do you think they did? Do we have any budding Greggs pastry chefs in our midst? https://t.co/7V08gFeIfN

Modern Foreign Language

Spanish has been chosen as our modern foreign language.

Spanish is taught every week  in Key Stage 2 by a Spanish speaking specialist teacher who uses a variety of techniques to encourage the children to have an active engagement with Spanish, to develop a positive approach to languages and to develop an understanding of different cultures.

Our Spanish curriculum is in line with the new National Curriculum and is adapted to each class topic to ensure children learn Spanish in a meaningful context.

In Key Stage 2, children are given the opportunity  to engage in a variety of role-plays to practise their speaking and listening and once they have mastered saying phrases aloud, they are shown the written form.    As they progress, children are given opportunities to read and write short passages of Spanish for a range of reasons
